Ceramic Stoneware, Underglazes, Mahagony Base
13" x 9" x 1 1/2"
This is a ceramic study I did of our dog, Zeus, a tailless Husky mix, stretched out sleeping. I sculpted him out of stoneware clay from life, while he was sleeping and before he moved:) Once the clay was carefully dried, I bisque fired him to a ceramic state. I then applied several colors of underglazes, and fired him a final time. He's been mounted on a piece of rough sawn mahogany. the work of art has a picture wire attached to the back and is ready to be hung on the wall. Conversely, the sculpture displays just as nice on a table top or piece of furniture, once the wire has been removed.
